Three Steps to Moving Day

From the first phone call to the last box set down where you want it.

1

Tell Us the Details

Give us the shape of your move by phone, over a quick video walk-through, or on the form. Back comes a flat, written price, not a vague range that creeps upward on the day.

2

Grab Your Date

Pick your day and we set the right crew and truck, then sort out any street-parking permit, walk-up stairs, or building rules so the morning runs smooth.

3

We Do the Lifting

A single lead runs the job, wrap, load, drive, and set down, with our own Buffalo crew, snow or shine, so you are never handed off to a stranger midway.

Your Move, Fully Covered

Taken care of from the first pad we lay down to the last signature on the walk-through.

Fully Insured

Every job carries cargo and liability coverage, and we talk through your valuation choices with you before a single form is signed.

Winter-Ready

Snow does not cancel a move around here. We salt the walk, lay runners over wet floors, and shrink-wrap against the slush so a January move stays clean.

Padded & Wrapped

Each piece gets moving blankets, shrink-wrap, and a tight strap-down. If something takes a knock, we call it out on the spot and set it right.

Done Right

A fair price, a crew that gives a damn, and nobody leaves until every last item sits exactly where you want it.

Family-Run, Not Brokered

Whoever shows up at your door is on our own payroll, not a crew booked off an app the night before. Every mover passes a background check and puts in time with the team before laying a hand on your things.

  • Background-checked and on our own payroll
  • Used to steep walk-ups and snow-day loading
  • Your lead sees the job through, first box to last
Our fleet

Clean, Marked Trucks

Every one of our six trucks wears the Good and Fair Moving name and DOT number on the door. A plain, unmarked rental at your curb? That is somebody else.

  • Company trucks with liftgates, kept plowed out and running
  • Stocked with pads, dollies, straps, salt, and shrink
  • Sized for narrow city streets and suburban drives alike
How this started

The Story Behind the Name

“I grew up in Kenmore and started Good and Fair Moving in 2010 with one truck and a name that says the whole deal: a good job at a fair price, our own crew on every move, and your stuff treated like it was ours. No brokers, no games.”

We drill our crews on what actually makes a Buffalo move go sideways, third-floor walk-ups in the student blocks, no-driveway streets that need a parking permit, the tight staircases in a century-old double, and a foot of lake-effect snow the night before. We would rather keep a customer for the next twenty years than chase one fast dollar.

Good to know

Questions We Hear a Lot

How much is this going to cost?

Two things drive it: the amount you are moving and how easy the in and out is. A two-mover crew with a truck starts at $115/hr, and you see an itemized written estimate before we carry a single box. Want a hard ceiling? Ask for a flat cap and the signed figure is all you can be charged. Out-of-state runs are quoted on weight and mileage.

How do you handle a move in the Buffalo winter?

We move straight through it, that is half of what we do here. The crew salts the walk and the steps, drops runners over wet floors so nothing gets tracked in, and shrink-wraps upholstery against the slush and road spray. Lake-effect days get a little slower and a lot more careful, and we plan the loading around the worst of the squalls.

My place is an old Buffalo double with narrow stairs. Can you handle that?

That is our bread and butter. The doubles and Victorians in North Buffalo, Elmwood, Parkside, and Allentown all have tight turns, steep old staircases, and front porches to work around. We measure the doorways, pad the newel posts and jambs, and hand-carry or hoist whatever will not make the corner.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Good and Fair Moving holds New York household-goods authority and carries full insurance, and every job runs with our own crew from start to finish, no broker skimming the middle. If you want to see the authority numbers and coverage details, just say so, and we will walk you through your valuation choices before anything is signed.

There is no driveway and street parking is tight. Is that a problem?

No, we deal with it on most city moves. Tell us the block when you book and we sort the truck spot, pull a temporary parking permit where the city requires one, and keep the carry as short as we can. On the day the crew shows up ready for a curbside load, not a driveway.

Is a deposit required?

A small refundable one holds your date, nothing more. It comes straight off your final total as a credit, so it is never an extra charge. Cancel with a couple of days’ notice and you get it back in full. It is all written on your booking from the start.

When and how do I pay?

Payment comes after the job wraps, never up front. We take credit and debit cards, plus check and cash. The crew does not pull away until you have looked over the final total and okayed it on the spot.

Is there anything you will not move?

A few things, mostly by law and for safety: propane, gasoline, paint, and other flammables, plus ammunition, house plants, food that spoils, and pets. If something is extra large, heavy, or valuable, flag it when you book so we bring the right people and gear.
